Want to sing Jazz
Harmony with an energetic, talented and incredibly
fun group, and learn a whole lot while doing it?
FAT CHANTS,
founded in 2007, is a Vancouver community jazz
choir of 18 to 24 mixed voices, ages 18 to 60's.
Directed by well-known entertainer, vocal coach,
and jazz harmony expert, Laura Lang, every
rehearsal is a wonderful learning experience.
FAT CHANTS is the
ONLY community jazz choir in Vancouver.
FAT CHANTS sings
upbeat jazz standards as well as the occasional
funky classic pop song, with our frontline
singer/dancers adding to our exciting
performances. Rehearsals are approx. every 3 - 4 weeks on Thursday in Yaletown, Vancouver, BC, from September
to April, where singers receive lots of individual
attention, leaning how to improve and strengthen
their voices, sing with style, and harmonize with
a group.
You will sing
beyond your expectations, and be amazed at what
you can do with Laura's excellent instruction.
"Fat Chants had so
much energy, so much fun -- it was totally
infectious and I loved every minute. Great choice
of songs and the harmonies sounded lovely."
(Audience member - April 2014 performance)
Cabaret nights are also offered, giving members taking private singing lessons from Laura an opportunity to perform for each other. These are very popular and provide great performing experience. Cabarets are followed by social time to celebrate the show and allow our members get to know each other and make great friends.
Laura Lang also
teaches privately, and can help you prepare for
any and all performances.
FAT CHANTS
performs in two to four hugely popular and sold
out shows each season. Members and audiences alike
feel total exhilaration as Fat Chants take their
final bows.
Audition only.
